CNC - Machining

ACTech - CNC - MachiningMachining of the casting blanks is an important component of the process chain at ACTech, since these blanks only become fully usable through machining. Prototypes demand increased efforts in machining, because we do not have available here the run-in parts that are otherwise in common use.

ACTech - CNC - MachiningACTech has taken up this challenge and offers casting-prototypes fully machined, ready for assembly by the customer. All established techniques are offered for machining on advanced CNC machine tools, based on CAD data of the finished part, machining data or drawings. Castings weighing from a few hundred grams to about 1,000 kilograms may be machined in all established materials.

A quick response is guaranteed by the machining companies situated in the region, even in case of special materials or sizes to be machined. More infrequently demanded techniques, such as gun drilling, may be provided in partnership with proven suppliers with high quality.

To get an optimal machining result, we think quality assurance should include measuring even the geometry of the design, where we can affect allowances and critical positions. Thus, clamping links are incorporated into the blank to rapidly clamp the part for machining. Sometimes the parts are pre-machined in order to reduce internal material stresses.

Processing the order smoothly and quickly is our highest priority in manufacturing. Waiting and idle time not absolutely necessary are avoided. Finished prototypes are ready for use within a few days.

All CAD- and CNC data produced during the process are naturally available to our customer for further use.

Pre-assembly

It is possible to carry out assembly operations according to the individual customer’s requirements not only after, but also during machining.

Examples
  • Assemble housing halves
  • Finishing seats of bearings
  • Close holes after machining with screws/ plugs and repeatedly check them for leakage

The types of assembly work and their requirements may vary widely and have to be co-ordinated with the customer.

In the instrument panel shown below, the thread inserts were pressed in after machining.
