If prototypes are demanded in higher quantities or to produce small batches, we also use the capacities of CNC based pattern making in the foundry. For this method, the 3D data record is fitted beforehand to the necessary preconditions of pattern making: To produce the mold with molding modeling equipment, we must foresee drafting angles and rounding according to the intended pattern partition.
If only few parts are needed, however, required investment in modeling equipment increases the total costs considerably, but it ensures production at lower cost where higher part quantities are desired.
For this reason, this technology suggests itself for a pilot production after completion of the development stage rather than to quickly provide prototypes suited for tests during development.
