Foundation of ACTech GmbH

The foundation of the enterprise is the laser-sintering procedure of Croning®- molding material, a technology for the rapid fabrication of sand casting molds. The procedure was developed in 1994 and has been granted a worldwide patent.

ACTech was the first autonomous special provider of rapid prototyping services for castings. The company began its production with 4 employees in the Centre for Start-ups and Innovation Freiberg.

July 1995

Start of Production (SOP)

EOS supplied the first laser-sintering system EOSint S. From this point on, we were able to laser- sinter sand casting molds and moldings from Croning^®- molding material. The first CAD workstation was set up at that time.

July 1996

Commissioning of the 2nd EOSINT-S system

EOS GmbH delivered the second EOSint S system to ACTech.
The high number of orders justified establishing the second CAD workstation.

April 1997

Extension of services

From this point on, ACTech was also able to offer its customers the option of producing casting molds with RAPID TOOLING on CNC pattern making equipment.

January 1998

We opened our own casting laboratory

Since January 1998, ACTech has been equipped with an own casting laboratory to ensure short turnaround times and high quality in performing time-sensitive customer projects. After this development, ACTech was equipped with five laser-sintering machines made by EOS and six CAD workstations.

February 1999

New business division: Machining of castings

The new business division – services in conventional and CNC machining – was created to offer the customers a complete service package around casting production. Now we can deliver the customer a casting, completely machined or preassembled, with single source responsibility.

July 1999

New technological development: Direct mold milling

ACTech commissioned a new CNC machining centre in order to mill large sand casting molds using its own mold making method.

March 2000

Foundation of the subsidiary company Rapid Metal Technologies GmbH

From this point forward, we also intend to provide prototypes for investment casting. For this purpose, we founded the subsidiary company RAPID METAL TECHNOLOGIES GMBH in Pegau near Leipzig in 2000. The enterprise specialises in the making and pouring of investment casting molds.
