Delivery of the second machine for direct mold milling |

ACTech extended its capacities in the relevant mold making business by putting into operation the second machine of the GEISS FZ 2000 type for DMM- Direct mold milling. |

Start of the joint project “Increases in accuracy of industrial X ray computer tomography (CT) plants for length measurement” |

The Physical- Technical Federal Agency in Brunswick (PTB), the Federal Agency for Material Research and –Testing (BAM) and 10 industrial partners worked in a joint project entitled “Industrial measurement of component geometries with CT”. The Federal Ministry for Economy and Labour (BMWA) sponsored the project. The project was begun in October 2003, with an expected project duration of 3 years. We traced new approaches to CT length measurement by combining the know-how of both Federal authorities, that is, experience in co-ordinate measurement and CT, as well as the expertise and knowledge of the partners from industry. |

Final presentation of the ROBOTYPING project |

On 21 and 22 October 03, we carried out the final presentation of the project entitled “New flexible techniques to produce large sand molds with robots – acronym ROBOTYPING” on the premises of the ACTech GmbH. The Federal Ministry for Education and Research sponsored the project. |

A sales office was opened in the UK |

ACTech opened its own sales office in England to much better fulfil the increasing flow of customer requests in Great Britain. Paul Reeves is an experienced contact person available for customer requests. |

ACTech participated in the Saxony-Classic 2003 (Sachsen-Classic) race with its own team |

ACTech GmbH started with its own team in a carefully manually reworked Trabant P50 at the Sachsen-Classic 2003 race. The background for this activity were 100 years of car manufacturing in Saxony and the new ACTech service producing spare parts for vintage cars. |

Application of CATIA V5 |

We started to introduce the upgrade CATIA V5 step by step. In addition to 11 existing CAD stations, we set up new CAD workstations with CATIA V5 and trained the personnel in their use. |

Beginning of the joint project entitled “praeventum” |

The project sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research is aimed at developing preventive eco-management methods within closed loop recycling management, which optimises resources. In other words, it is focussed on the development of methods to define product and process features relevant to the environment (environmental QFD), analysis of how both product and process influence the environment (environmental FMEA) and cost savings related to ecological concerns (ecological target costs). These methods are intended to be used for a generalised approach to overcome the limits of a particular company. They must also consider the overall product’s life cycle. |

On 03/01/2003, ACTech North America Inc. opened for business. ACTech now offers its American business partners experienced contact persons and services, since the firm is immediately present on site. |
