The merger of Rapid Metal Technologies GmbH with the parent firm of ACTech GmbH has been finished.

ACTech GmbH, located in Freiberg/Saxony, has been acting as the sole shareholder of Rapid Metal Technologies GmbH since mid 2003. Since this time, senior management, controlling and administration have been performed in Freiberg. For this reason, it was neither necessary nor reasonable to further maintain the autonomy of Rapid Metal Technologies as a limited liability company (GmbH). Consequently, the general management of ACTech GmbH, in consultation with the shareholders, made the following decision retroactive to 1 January 2005: The subsidiary Rapid Metal Technologies GmbH is to be merged with ACTech GmbH and run as a plant location of ACTech GmbH.

Because all of the peripheral and organizational processes at ACTech GmbH have already been completed, this merger will neither lead to reduction of staff nor relocation of the facility itself. All existing contracts, business relationships, rights and obligations are completely taken over by ACTech GmbH as the successor in interest.

Schiller immortalized in bronze on occasion of his 200 day of death

ACTech has cast the first copy of a colossal plaster bust of the poet Friedrich Schiller in bronze. The original bust was created by the sculptor J. F. Dannecker in 1805, after Schiller's death. The bell foundry song "Lied von der Glocke" by Schiller closely connects the casting industry and the arguably most famous "caster" of bells. This tribute, 200 years after the death of Schiller, fulfills the sculptor’s legacy: "I want to make him a giant!"
ACTech supported this project, from measuring the original, making the mold and pouring to handing over the finished bronze bust to the Weimarer Klassik foundation. Initially, the bust was shown in the Leipzig Museum of Fine Arts from 11 September to December 2005. In December 2005, the bust will be sent to its final destination in the famous library Anna Amalia Bibliothek in Weimar.
