ACTech - Example wheel member

If pilot production have to be subjected to driving tests, all parameters have to be absolutely right. The parts used have to correspond to the later state of the production and have the same characteristics. This is particularly true when poor track tests for American light trucks have to be performed.

Here, ACTech had to make a small series with part characteristics commensurable with those of the production. Manufacturing was to be performed  in the shortest time possible so that the customer could meet the planned deadline. Along the way, faults in design and production planning were also discovered and eliminated.

Today, even safety components, such as the wheel mounting shown, may be made in rapid prototyping procedures without lowering one's standards in terms of the required efficiency and manufacturing reliability. Working with small part quantities means that the results obtained can be transferred into the next stage of development in a quick and cost effective manner, without the long delivery times that are usual for prototypes made by conventional methods.
